Just blew 100 quid on portraits of my baby! Would you?

They are real nice if you like olde worlde soft focus sepia stuff. It is just that I feel guilty as it is such a big purchase for an unemployed student mother!! I got two A4 sizes and one a bit bigger. I also varying smaller sizes of five different poses 10 in total. Need to hear of similar frivilousness from other parents.

I paid £175 for one of dd and me when we were flat broke, but it does look lovely in the playroom so I don't regret it now.

i have spent over £200 on pictures from venture. twice

Mine were from venture as well, it is a lovely portrait.

I was warned about the hardsell set to tug at your heart strings music, so i took in £200 cash and no cards.

I spent £160 on some recently, gave one to MIL who said "oh I wanted one of the 3 of you" and my mum who said "it's a bit small"

Thanks guys. My partner was not impressed with the price but hasn't seen them yet as he is away I am sure he will think they are great though. I may even post them in profiles if i plug the scanner in. Misdee you must be really fond of your little uns!

I would like another one, am a portrait addict have some lovely ones from another gallery and I have some gift vouchers left over, but I want to be on the pictures so am trying to lose some weight first

To cure my gallery addiction I bought a decent camera and went on a photography course at my local college. Have taken some lovely pictures of dd, am trying to talk dp into setting up a darkroom in the loft and buying me some studio gear - but am not having much luck

of course i am. i take hundreds pof pics a month of them, upload them to the truprint site and then order actualy prints. just put an order through for 40 pics. have got some 8x10's this time plus some wallet ones. atm i cant get to venture, but as soon as dd3 is more mobile then i am planning another session there with all 3 girls.

Also spent a silly amount of money at Venture but to be honest these are the only type of photos I would consider hanging on my walls. I love the pictures and all 4 kids enjoyed the experience. For home photos dd2 enjoys doing Warhol type stuff with Picasa free download software - worth a try as it's great fun for kids.

i'm dead impressed that you can take pictures like that twinset.all my photos of the boys are classic snaps- abit blurred sometimes with all my household clutter in the background.would love some like that.

Why would I want pictures up of people who live with me??? I see them 4/7.

I am a cheap skate and usually got ds pics done 3 times with pixifoto in mothercare as they only charge £80 for a load...think its usually about 5 different pics and they let you change clothes etc. Although havent had ds done since last xmas mainly cos he hasnt changed much this year so will have him done this year. The good thing with pixifoto is you get one large pic for £6 which is the actual sitting fee so well worth it.
I love having his pics as we have a digi camera so never tend to actually print of any photos we take...lol

I was thinking about paying for a portrait of my baby (due 4 Jan) and my DP for My DP's Xmas gift.

I really want one of those ones where the baby is laid on the mans hands asleep, it does not show DP at all apart from his hands but I love that pose.

I'm in MCr so will have to look for a studio close by. I hope he like the idea! I would pay up to £150.

Dh is a photographer and does the natural, relaxed type of portraits. He spends a whole morning at a client's house getting to know his 'subjects'. The resulting pics are stunning -almost like Boden-style fashion shoots.

We've got some beautiful ones of our kids which we'll have forever - worth it IMO.
