Would you/ do you share a bed with your 10-year-old DS on a weekend away?

DS1 & I are planning to go off for a weekend while DS2 & DH are somewhere else.

I'm looking for rooms/ B&Bs/ center parcs type places etc, and they are nearly all double rooms/beds, unless I pay £££ extra for another room.

I just assumed that DS & I would share a bed. No thoughts about it. Have done in the past at hotels etc.

DH is a bit about it and says he thinks DS is now 'too old' for this...

?? thoughts ??

(DS doesn't mind btw... in fact, being a bit of a 'Mummy's Boy' would probably lap up the opportunity to read together, chat, drink hot chocolate etc )

2 single beds if you are unsure of sharing a double bed?

Can't keep ds out of my bed!

When dh is away he and dd are in like a shot and reading, chatting, playing Animal, Vegetable, Mineral etc.

Enjoy your time with ds: he'll soon want to be in a separate hotel, never mind separate bed!

RTKanga - that's the problem - it's really hard to get twin beds in a lot of places....

My DS is nine, and I wouldn't think twice about sharing a bed with him in this situation. Reading and drinking hot chocolate in bed together sounds lovely

only have a 3yo DS but i don't see anything wrong with this at all! Until they start not to want to, it's fine imo

My DS is 10, we share a bed all the time.

He loves to sleep in our bed, and daddy has been pushed out the past couple of nights due to bad dreams and feeling poorly.

I'm qute sad ths would be thought of as an issue. He's still just a little boy.

I don't have a DS but my 11yr old DD is still a regular bed invader.

My guess is that 'too old' will usually correspond with the onset of puberty, rather than a one-size-fits-all age.

Can't see a problem.

Good.... you all seem to have the same view as me!

I think DH thinks of him as more grown up that he (DS) really is... probably not helped byt he fact that he's 5 ft tall now (so not a very 'little' boy!)

Sounds fine to me if DS doesn't mind. My DS is only 6 now but still loves to come and cuddle up.

Agree with Grimma he will change how he feels about it when he hits puberty, he is still a "little" boy.

If DS is still comfortable with it not a problem
My DS is 10 and can still ocassionally be persuaded to come in bed and have a 'cuddle'!

I travel with ds (7) a lot, and always share a bed (even if we get a room with two beds as I feel safer if we are abroad, talking about places like China, Cambodia etc).

I have had hotels getting really funny at check in though if I have booked a room with only one double bed. I have had some quite heated arguments with hotel manager in the past who have tried to insist I book two rooms or a more expensive room with two beds.

We used to co sleep when ds was little, once tried to book a room in a hotel for a wedding and they would not let us book a double room for the three of us, saying they had no rooms with room for a roll away bed. When we said that was fine, he would be sleeping with us they still refused to let us book a double. Madness.

No problems with that. My ds 9 jumps in with me every morning for a cuddle and chat. I love it.
We are going away for easter and havn't sorted the sleeping arrangements out yet. He will possibly share wuth me.

Couldn't see any problem at all with it, and would definitely share a bed with my almost 11yo ds.

Mind you, this thread made me recall a boyfriend I had many years ago, who occasionally shared a bed with his mother when he was in his late twenties.

Always found it a bit - icky-...
