Hi.

I have a M&P cotbed which I am going to turn into a bed for my 2 yr old. I am having real trouble finding a bed rail to fit a cotbed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If he is ready for a bed you won't need a be rail. Cot bed are low so children can get in and out of them and so it doe'nt hurt when the fall out of bed. If you are worried put a duvet or pillows for him. My friends son was 6 before he relised he could get out without mummy.

I think the lindam bedrail fits cotbeds

I agree with 3l15a8eth. I bought a lindam bedrail for ds1 (2.6 when he went into a bed) and have never used it as he has never fallen out. I would give the bed a go for a couple of nights (maybe with some cushions on the floor) before you buy one.

i had problems too. The tomy one didn't fit because of the huge hindge. The portable travel baby dan one fits perfect as slim and great for going away as folds really small

We had the wooden Mothercare one for our cotbed. here

Only problem was that the bed was so low, we couldn't fold the guard out of the way but I never needed to anyway. I made the bed with the guard up and lifted DS over it when necessary.

I agree with those that say do without. Its just another thing to wean them off. Not worth the hassle. If you are worried about them falling out and hurting themselves, put something soft ( old cot mattress?) by side.

Thanks for the suggestions. He won't have any trouble getting in/out of bed, but he still crashes around in his sleep a lot and frequently hits the side, so I imagine he will be falling out all the time. He is now climbing out of his cot, so need to get him into a bed! Will have a look at the suggestions. Thanks.

Interestingly enough, my DS used to thrash around in his cot loads. He fell out of bed once.

I never used one. Used to put cushions on the floor, or if you use a duvet, put it crossways across the bed and tuck in well.

DCS can fall out of quite high beds and not even wake up!
