Favouritsm

I really get mad with myself sometimes because I know I favour my ds above dd. I don't know if its because he's the youngest and a lot more dependent on me than she is but I just always seem to find myself with him more than her. I feel so sorry for her sometimes. He gets lots of time with me but she is always at school.

My ds is very affectionate though like me and dd is more like her daddy very independent.

I dont see any favouritsm in that as you have to do more things for younger kids than olders.

I know but I just seem to want to be with my ds more than his sister and I feel really wrong for being like that!!!! DS is a Daddy's girl and she always turns to her Dad apart from when she's ill and then she wants me but ds is more for me and sometimes I feel like we are in two halves instead of a full family. I love both my children so much but I just can't help gravitating towards my son and wanting to be there for him all the time and then dd gets pushed out.

There's something in the Siblings Without Rivalry book (have I recommended that enugh times on MN?) -- basically, of course you get along with or like one of your children more than the others. It's only human. The main thing is that you don't make it obvious if you prefer one to the other, and that you make sure that each child's needs are being met. Needs being met is more important than being "fair" or treating them perfectly equally.

I am probably not putting that as well as the book does, but good book, def. relevant.
