Hearing DS1 turn round and shout very loudly "Bye bye, cya later LOVE YOU TOO" every single day when I drop him at nursery (we'll ignore the fact that he does this before I even step through the main nursery door as he's so keen to go LOL)

Watching DS's run around and laughing with each other

Watching them rush to see daddy when he gets home - and greating him with massive smiles and cuddles.

8pm when they go to bed

The little nuances and idiosyncracies of DS that only DP and notice and are interested in - the obsessive details of our little miracle.
DS's sheer delight in the world, and knowing that we were part of introducing him to that.

Looking at them and thinking 'God! I (okay,we) made them!' as I do every single day.

Never feeling lonely and purposeless as I sometimes did as a self indulgent student.

(Mind you, could do with a bit of peace and quiet to think every now and again.)

The informed discussion on a wide range of subjects with dd1, the love from dd2 and dgs, the grown upness of ds and his trousers always showing his bum (he's 17)..

What a lovely thread. I love pretty much everthing but my favourite thing is seeing them enjoying life as only children can. Getting so excited by things and discovering the world and their abilities in it. I love it!!!!

The look in their eyes when we're giggling
Watching them asleep
Seeing dd2 look adorlingly at her big sister
dd1 being 'Mammy' to dd2

EVERYTHING

(apart from weeing with an audience!)

Being amazed every day at how unbelievably beautiful they are.

Watching her enjoy eating something I made just for her.

Getting her a snack or her cup.

Brushing her chesnut ringlets

Her hair - smells like Johnson's Baby Shampoo

Tucking her in at night and picking her up in the morning.

Her twee voice - the way she calls me 'Mummy' and her Scottish accent.

Watching her play w/her baby doll

EVERYTHING!

even though I never seem to stop moaning about how tired I am, how much they wind me up, how it seems to be "one thing after another" and "what is it NOW? can't you see mama's trying to have a pee in peace?!"

expat,is it strange to have a child with an accent that is different to yours?

I absolutely adore being a mum and everything it brings with it.

I can't even get angry with my two. If I try to tell them off I just end up laughing and giving them the biggest hug because i just love them to bits!!

I love every second that i'm with them becuse everything is such a big adventure to them and it is the most rewarding thing in the world to spend time showing and teaching them something new and how amazed they are at simple things like a butterfly or when you explain how something works and you can see in their little faces how it all suddenly makes sense.

Awww I want to go and wake them up!!!!

Nah, moondog, I don't hear it much these days at all. It's just today I put a tshirt on her my mom sent her. It had a Poo Bear on it, and she pointed right at it and said, 'A bear' w/that Scottish 'e' and 'r'. It sort of took me aback. Also the ways she proclaims, 'Oh dear' or 'Deary me' when she drops something.

That's sweet expat.
We are still really tickled by my nieces' and nephews' 'eavy French accents when they speak English! (Father is French)

Love it!
