Babygros - how long is it acceptable to wear them?

DS2 is 6 months old.

I have an attic full of DS1's old clothes, but I just never have a chance to get up there to sort through them. Also, I find it much easier to dress DS2 in babygros all the time. They're warm, I don't have to worry about little socks falling off, he's not mobile yet so doesn't need footwear/padding.

But other babies of his age always seem to be dressed in proper outfits - tops, trousers, socks.

Obviously I give DS a clean babygro morning and evening (and whenever it gets wet or food-covered).

Is it OK to keep your children in babygros until they become impractical for them ie when they're pulling to stand etc?

Am I committing some horrific social faux-pas (?spelling), like wearing my pyjamas to Tesco?

I put my 4mth old ds2 in one if we're not going out anywhere but i dress him when we go out cos i think that people will think i'm lazy and can't be bothered to get him out of his pj's even though he doesn't even sleep in a babygro (he has a l/s vest in a grobag).

My Ds is 17 months and still wears babygros during the day sometimes. He comfirtable and warm especially when it's cold and he wears a fleece one. Really don't see a problem with it.

I put my DS (then aged 9 months) in a baby grow for a flight because it was comfy and LOADS of people commented on it - in a "Awwww, aren't big babies in baby grows adorable" way. It had aeroplanes on it, I think he liked the attention!

Don't think there's anything wrong with it, as long as he's warm

I plan to keep my next baby in babygros until he/she is at least 1. Maybe when they are crawling/pulling-up I will substitute the footless ones.

DS is nearly in 11mo and still take him out of the house in a babygro sometimes, last time I had a compliment on how nice it was to see a baby dressed like a baby I didn't spoil it by saying I couldn't be arsed to find another clean outfit.

He is crawling and walking around the furniture, and won't keep socks on at all so I often leave him in a babygro if we are at home. Nothing wrong with that at all.

my 9 month old wears babygros or similar most of the time. I have two older children and so she is in and out all the time (9am, 12:30 and 3pm). So I keep her in a babygro so that i can just pull her snowsuit over the top. I always find that other clothes get crumpled up inside her coat.

DD was in babygros for ages. Dresses were so impractical for crawling etc.
DS is only 8wks but the amount of 'proper' clothes he got given at birth was amazing. Jeans on a newborn ?
I am struggling to find velour babygros for him to work now that he is in 3-6mths clothing. Any ideas where I can find velour babygros, preferably not in pale blue or mushroom in sizes bigger than newborn?

I know I was given a pair of jeans for my son when he was born, He was tiny at 5 pounds and yet for some reason people expected him to wear jeans lol

Pretty much all my 5 month old owns is babygros. He wears them out every day. When we are home he wears a short sleeve vest, track suit type trousers and socks.

Either way is very easy to change him, which is all I care about. I certainly don't care if other people think I am lazy or whatever because he's not in an 'outfit'. I think outfits are silly on babies!

I hate to admit it (and perhaps should have namechanged) but I had one when I was 18yo. Twas very cosy and matched my fluffy slippers.

If you are looking for larger sizes of babygros, check out the German websites, they have a strange love of babygros. Some of them are shocking though.

ds was in them until about 21 months when he got too long for them. We did use proper clothes as well for when he went outside, but I think babies look very cute in babygrows, and if he's comfy why not?

I dressed my ds in them till he was walking at 14 months, obviously if we were going out somewhere special he would have an outfit on.

Tesco have some nice bright velour babygros.
I like DD (six months) in babygros but we have been bought so many 'outfits' that I think it would be ungrateful if I didn't put her in them occasionally.

I also got given jeans for DD when she was born at 5lb7. And a raincoat!

DD1 is 3.6, and she currently sports a fetching Fifi fleece babygro aged 5-6yrs from Asda. My mum bought it after I caught her trying to fit into one of ehr old 2-3yr ones saing is was 'cozy'
She puts in on as soon as she gets home from nursery and has to be prised gently persuaded out of it when we go out.
DD2 rips babygros off within seconds, has done since she was 14-15 months, so she wears 'proper' outfits.

I should have added, DD 4.8yrs has a big fluffy suit to wear in bed over her PJs. Very handy for camping too in the spring.

Will check out TKMaxx for velour suits. I don't do Disney which is what a lot of the velour suits tend to be!
