My DS has been in floods of tears for over an hour about the family photos in his room. He says they make him so happy it makes him cry. He has one on his bedside of him as a baby, with me and DH. He just keeps looking at it and crying.

I have asked him if he is worried about anything etc. I have explained that we love him just as much now as we did when he was a baby. Nothing would console him. I Have now put on a story CD and he is quiet, but I am wondering if there may be an issue behind this? Or is he just overtired?

We are a "normal family" - usual daily stresses, but in the whole happy and loving.
He has always been sensitive, still very cuddly etc. Just wondering how I can help him cope with these emotions?

My 6yo ds has been in a similar state just gone into y2 and many of his friends the same. A few weeks ago he came in to me completely out og the blue in tears because ' i never knew my great-great-great grandad'.... um neither did I!

he has become quite clingy with babysitters etc ( ie not wanting us to go out) and also a little reluctant at school. We have chatted and chatted and even spoken with teacher and no issues at all that we can identify other than perhaps some more hormones/ a bit of a step up in Y2 and / quite tired because of this

you are certainly not alone!

do you think he's doing it for attention?

because you're giving him positive, what a sensitive soul attention.

I think I'd be inclined to ignore him tbh

Thanks for quick replies.

Thanks for the reassurance backintheUK. Maybe they are just getting to an age where they are able to think about things more. He was defeniatly over tired tonight.

postal - that did cross my mind. I tried ignoring for a while but he just got more upset.
