DD is 23 months today she had-

half a bowl of honey hoops cereal
half a slice of toast with marmite
banana
a cheese scone
baked beans with a blob of philadelphia
a mini sausage roll
pot of yoghurt
slice of banana bread
choc chip biscuit

We were out most of the day so probably more snack foods than normal.

Oh god!

Here goes......

A handfull of dry cherrios
1/2 and Ellas breakfast pouch

1 bag of Organix belt and melt type things

2 mini bread sticks with philadelphia

Part of the trouble is he sleeps 11am-2pm so doesn't want a lunch on waking but a snack around 3 seems to put him off tea.

That said he seems to aviod all 'meals' won't even touch stew, cottage pie, fish pie etc etc etc. Quite happy to live off toast

oh marypoppins, we're the same here with dd, only she doesn't sleep.

Today she has eaten

boiled egg and bacon
raisins
dried fruitstick

mini cheddars, a bite of apple, chocolate biscuits, olives.

teeny bit of pasta, more olives, breaded chicken, apple juice and smarties.

After months of stressing that she never eats meals I have decided that as long as I get 5 portions of fruit (occasionally veg) into her most days, then I'm doing good.

FWIW I lived on noodle doodles and toast for the first 3 years of my childhood, and my sister ate only sausage and chips up until the age of about 7. Mum never made a fuss, and we both eat very well now, not at all fussy.

Ah! But see the biggest difference is that you all have managed to get some iron in there - through meat/fish. My little one just won't go anywhere near a real meal, no pasta, potato, meat, fish......

Its driving me mad!!
beesonmummyshead I am so glad you told me that, there IS hope!! Thank-you!!

PoisonToadstool he looks so lovely though! Not tiny either! My DS is 24 months and 11kg, looks in proportion but slim.

ahh but i worry he eats too much, so you know, you can never win!

i am so far blessed with 2 very good eaters, am sure i am due a terrible one with ds3.

tbh i reckon that if you offer decent healthy food, and let them get on with it they;ll take what they need. maybe your LO just doesn't need much right now.

tryingtobemarypoppins - will he pick out the bits of meals he wants? On bad days I mix peas/corn/slices of carrots into couscous made with homemade (fresh from supermarket) stock (so contains meat juices ergo iron - at least that's what i tell myself) and leave her to pick out what she wants.

Doesn't marmite contain iron? (could spead it on the toast)

Pot of raisins and a drink of milk

Half a yoghurt and half a slice of toast for lunch (which was a massive victory for me)

Babybel at 3pm

6 Organix ricecakes and a banana

Drink of milk.

We too have ishoos, he wont eat anything hot. Please please dont worry. You sound like you are getting a range of foods down your DS.

I'm watching this thread avidly as our 26 month old seems to exist on fresh air and I get very worried.

He did eat some cheese on toast and veg yesterday plus jelly with fruit in yesterday but prefers to graze rather than sit down to eat a proper meal.

Does anyone else's child like to pretend their sausages are tractors or their lumps of cheese are bales of hay? Food gets organised on the plate and a tantrum occurs if you wreck his 'field' by trying to encourage him to eat it.

Gentle otter - thats so sweet. DS doesnt do that but what he does is carry his food round like a comfort blanket - today he had a hobnob which he held onto all afternoon, and he still didnt eat it, I have just found it on the floor!

Today I managed to get DS to eat some raisins, 2 school bars, 1/4th of a Jam sandwich, a babybel and a yoghurt. He is definately a grazer too.

Hope you had a better day today MaryPoppins
