DD has become quite competitive lately, is this normal 5yo stuff or is this who she's going to be from now on?

Ha Ha
I would have said it is common at this age and I think girls verbalise these things more, whereas boys push to the front of the queue and have to be first.

It is a bit wearing though!

In some ways as long as it's not totally untamed,it's a good thing to have a strong sense of self/competitive streak ~ my ds was like this and is very sort of sure of himself now and tends to lead others.

I think it's an age thing, ds and his fellow 5 and 6 year olds on the street are always at it! A couple of weeks ago I was at a friend's house and overheard ds talking to my friend's 9 year old

ds: Where is your mum?
9yo: I don't have a mum, only a dad.
ds (with note of triumph in voice): Well I have a mum and a dad.
