Can you recommend a book on child behaviour ?

I have a DS now 11 months old. In preparation for his toddler years, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on child behaviour/psychology ?

I would rather not read anything that is too harsh on the child. I tend towards "attachment parenting".

Please tell me WHY you think the book you have used has worked for you.

I bought Toddler taming and to be honest - if you want to get a warrant from a child rearing guide to tying their bedroom door shut when they are in time out go ahead a buy it, if not then try:

Mindfulness is the powerful meditative practice of cultivating moment-to-moment awareness to bring wisdom, understanding, and a greater sense of meaning and purpose into our daily living. Now, parents can enrich their lives and the lives of their children through mindful parenting -- that is, by honoring the fullness of the present moment, and within it, the inner potential and beauty that reside in both our children and ourselves. Provides a powerful new way of looking at and facing the challenges of parenthood, illuminating how a lack of awareness fosters patterns that damage both parent and child, and how mindfulness can bring healing and transformation to this relationship.

Myla Kabat-Zinn, B.S.N., R.N., has worked as a childbirth educator, birthing assistant, and environmental advocate. The Kabat-Zinns are the parents of three children, ages twenty-two, eighteen, and fourteen.

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. is the founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, as well as Professor of Medicine emeritus. He leads workshops on stress reduction and mindfulness for doctors and other health professionals and for lay audiences worldwide. He is the bestselling author of 'Wherever You Go', 'There You Are' and 'Full Catastrophe Living', and, with his wife Myla Kabat-Zinn, 'Everyday Blessings', a book on mindful parenting. With Dr. Andrew Weil he created the CD program 'Meditation for Optimum Health'. He was featured in the PBS series Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers, as well as on Oprah. He lives in Massachusetts.

It is the BEST child behaviour/rearing guide I have ever read - and should be given to every new parent or parents to be
