this sounds stupid because its a birthday and i shouldnt be getting him something cause he needs it, but my practical mind cant think past getting something he needs, but then he doesnt need anything.

so what do i get a four year old boy for his birthday?

We got our DS some playmobil for his 4th birthday (he's 4.6 now) and he loves it. He plays with it every single day without fail and it has probably been the best thing we have ever got him...apart from his bike which he is glued to lol!

We got DS a playmobil crane for his 4th birthday. There was an excellent special offer at the time. It was a great success

Playmobil hits when my dtwin boys were 4 were the dinosaur range(volcano, tricerotops, quad bike),the police station/car(mine loved the gaol and burglar and the police superset complete with cave to hind in and burglar, get a get away car too).

Mine also adore their rock castle and pirates which they play with in their wooden pirate ships.

We have Le Toy Van pirate ships (very sturdy can withstand the most violent battle) as I felt the Playmobil ones were too breakable for 4 but we have loads of Playmobil pirates that fit just right.

The pirate crew set comes with real treasure(gems)and coins and masses of weaponry. We have the Le Toy Van pirate mat to sail round on. Every little boy who comes to play wants to play with it. I've seen a fab Playmobil pirate lighthouse type thing with light.

We had that offer crane too fab,it's v expensive full price.

My 2 sound very spoilt but must say it's all between 3 dc over several years of bdays and Xmas's a lot from lovely grandparents and friends.

They actually have very little else except for train set and lego which is also another good idea. We have the buildings box and vehicles box, both good sizes with lots of pieces and not cheap but they get loads of use from it and will for years to come.

If you feel your ds has enough what about a bike,my 2 adore their bikes now the stabilizers are off or you get him a bike bell, knee pads etc.

A friend of mine got her dd a family year pass to Crealy which she loved.

Playmobil is great, as is the small Lego.
I would go for both and then get a few more bits of whichever he likes best for Christmas

playmobil seems to be a winner. will definitely have a look at that. he has a bike and roller skates, swing and trampoline. lots of toy cars and lego. in fact, i dont think we have room for anything else. ah well, i'll think of something. tahnks for replies.

Playmobil is fairly small. What about a cd player and some story cds?
