Replacement car seats after road accident

Has anyone had to replace their car seats after a road accident ? I'm wondering if insurance companies require proof that you have replaced the seat with the same model as was in the accident.

My DS is just about to move up a group for his seat, so there seems no point in getting a replacement seat that he will only use briefly when I was about to get him a bigger one anyway. However, I don't want the insurance company to refuse to reimburse me if I get a different model.

Anyone had this problem ?

No, the insurance paid for both of mine when my car was crashed in to. Only one was in use at the time but both were in the car. I replaced one with the next stage as we were about to get one any way. They just requested photos of them for proof that we had them in the first place and a value from Halfords or somewhere similar for replacements, they never chacked thet we had actually bought them.

That reads as I only replaced one, I did replace them both but not like with like.

We just got a voucher for £100 for Halfords which pissed me off because I had a Priorifix that cost over £200. Ended up with a different seat because we couldn't afford to shell out the other £120 on top. Had only had the seat for less than a month and was a small, slow accident but couldn't take the risk.

My car was hit with a brick (brick went through window chiped side of seat-still useable but police wrote down that car seat needed replacing)
I bought an ISOFIX seat (not like for like) and sent receipt off, Insurance reimbursed £100 where as seat cost me £180.
