Hi there,
Im hoping somebody could help?
We are in process of moving to Oz. I wonder, do UK carseats comply with the Aussie law? I want to bring our Maxi-Cosi Cabrio infant capsule and Maxi-Cosi Tobi forward facing carseat but not sure if they are ok for Australia? Please help! Thanks

we used our maxi cosi forward facing car seat on holiday last year and didn't have a problem you may need to get a new baby one though. The friend I stayed with said they hire them as they use capsule like ones.

Zuzkah we just did this recently - I'm fairly sure that the law here is not just whether the carseat complies with Aussie law, but that the sea must say so. Check with someone like the RACQ or RACV to be certain.

You can hire infant capsules here from motoring organisations and ambulance services; it is dirt cheap ($60 for six months' hire, extendable), the capsules are exactly right and in very good nick.

hth.

where're you moving to?

I have just did more research here
So none of our carseats our good enough for Australia! hmmmm

andiem - I guess it's ok for holidays. And Im sure the children are still safe so it's only the law side. Will have to sell ours then.

phdlife - I did and the seats are not ok . Thanks for telling me about hiring the capsules. That's pretty good price considering how much a new one costs!
We are moving to Hervey Bay QLD. Where have you moved to? Do you like it?

Littles are fabulous. It costs $40 (in inner Sydney, anyway) for their van to come to you and fit your seat absolutely correctly. They'll tell you exactly what seat you need for your DC and adjust all the straps to the perfect length (and show you precisely where they should be so you can adjust them as your child grows).

I think they also do capsule hire.

I'm in Brisbane, zuzkah and yes I like it but then I'm biased - lived here previously. Liked HB too, but since it's right in the middle of the fastest growing part of Qld I guess it's changed some in the 10 years since I was last there.

Apparantly if your car seat has a top tether strap you are obliged by law to use it, if not you can just use the normal seat belt. We sold our maxi cosi priorifix before we moved and then spent a bloody fortune on new ones

Zuzkah I am v v envious. Your kids will be feeding the dolphins every day!

What lulalullabye says is true.
If you give the QAS a ring they can tell you where to go to get it fitted.

Also Kids Safe hire capsules too

Go to Babyco for a HUGE range of carseats if you are near one

phdlife - Brisbane, lovely. So we'll be neighbours! We ve been to HB last week to check it out and we loved it.

lula - thanks, so you are in oz now too? I believe though that you have to have a carseat with an australian approved mark or it's illegal. So we are selling too.

janin- not sure about dolphins but it would be great!

Lou- Thanks for the links. I will check it out before selling if they could actually attach a hook to my carseat?
