Just thought I would pop in and say hello as I am new to Mumsnet.

I am a SAHM of two boys, DS1 nearly 3 yrs old and DS2 2 months. I am welsh but live in Spain with my Spanish DP.

I´m hoping to pick up tips on how to stop shouting at poor DS1 everytime he touches DS2 a little roughly or doesn't do exactly as I excpect the moment I ask him. I have turned from this patient, playful type mum into a screaming, banshee, mad woman I hope it will stop soon.

Hello.

Banshee, mad lady phase will end...one day... just give it 15 years time.

I can relate to what you say.

I have 2 DD's- a 4 year old and a 14 month old. Tiredness is a killer for quashing the 'softer' more 'patient' parenting I want to do more of.

DD1 was nearly 3 when DD2 was born. Looking back my expectations of her were unrealistic. Still a baby herself in some ways then.

Cut yourself and DD1 some slack when possible. I bet your less screamy than you think you are.

Thanks Sparky I think I am being unrealistic too and your right tiredness doesn't help. DS1 is being more patient than a month ago so If I can just calm down ...

I have been there, I have so been there!
Don't worry. DCs are loads more resilient than you think, and you are doing a fabulous job i am sure. I was banshee woman for a long time and still have my moments. Strangely, my 3 DC's (all v. close in age) have lived to tell the tale and are relatively unscathed! I used to worry about what i was doing to them psychologically and all that stuff but as long as there are MORE loving moments than banshee moments then you are doing ok, even if it's only a ratio of 60:40!

Hi there Sugar. I think I reach the 60:40 ratio though some days maybe it swings the other way. My sister says the same as you; that kids are very resilient.

I did have feelings of rejection towards poor ol' DS1 at times when all I wanted to do was be with the baby but at least that seems to have gone thank god.

Hi there HecAte (waves)
