my ds is 6 months old and for the past 3-4 months he has been crying in his sleep, it is a really distrest cry not just a whimper, i have to cuddle and stoke his head until he settles down, sometimes he wakes sometimes he dont, it is really hard to cope with as it horrible to see your baby distrest and not no why. he had a slightly difficult birth and i wondered if it could be that. or maybe a really bad case of sickness he had lasting a month in alot of pain leaving him lactose intolarent may be the problem, does anyone have the same problem. and do you know what might of caused it.

Hi, does he do this every time her sleeps? My DD's have each done it on occasion, but not regularly. Is there anything that could be disturbing him and startling him? He's definitely not stirring because he's hungry or too warm?

I don't know what else it could be due to unless it is nightmares - DD's certainly dreamt at this age.

When he's awake does he seem fine? Have you spoken with your health visitor? It might be worth doing so if you are concerned.
These LO's like to keep us guessing, don't they?!

Hi jaspersslave! My dd is 3 months old now and has been crying in her sleep for 2 weeks. Although not a distressed cry like yours, it's still enough to wake us! We just put her dummy back in & off she goes for 10 mins, then cries again & so on throughout the night! Don't know what the answer is, sorry!

When my dd did this our HV said that if I knew she would do it at a certain time, to wake her up and settle her back down again to break the cycle of it IYSWIM.
