I think an email is fine, as long as it's going to someone who is a frequent/confident emailer, so feels at home in the medium ... but, for me, it probably needs to be slightly longer than a handwritten note (I reckon postcard's worth of handwritten is absolutely fine but would write more on email)

Email infinitely better than nothing.

TBh I still think handwritten better than email, but nice email including info about how the present was received plus family news, perhaps a picture, wd be fine.

Ds is handwriting his, I secretly think handwritten is the optimum. But I am so rubbish at getting it done.
