I've got a woven Storch wrap which I wear DD in on my front. But she's getting bigger now and I'd like to be able to wear her on my back as well. I wear her on my back in my mei tai but it seems much harder with a wrap. Can anyone help? Thanks smile

How old is she?
There's this method here plus others I'm sure. Another helpful website is [[www.slingmeet.co.uk Sling Meet.

it is harder, but doable. just a bit of a learning curve.
I kind of put the wrap round ds2, then fling him onto my back however I can. bend over forwards a bit so he doesn't fall off.
make sure you have the sling coming down each side of you. use a mirror to make sure the sling is right up to his neck and lots of material under his bum.

then you can either bring it round the front under your arms and tie. then put it back over your shoulders and cross it over his back and under his legs, and then tie at the front. you need to make sure you pull the fabric as wide as it will go to get good coverage and support.

or bring it over your shoulders. pull the top and bottom rails nice and tight, and you can twist a bit to help tighten it, then either cross it over on your front and round the back and under the legs
or, under your arms (so it's like a rucksack) and then cross over on his bum and under legs and bring it back round the front and tie,. if your wrap is long enough then at this point you can turn it into a tibetan carry by pushing the ends through the shoulder straps and tying up on your chest.

none of this prbably makes much sense though. I think there are lots of vids on youtube which may help?

She's 14 months. Thanks for the link I'll have a mooch now. I'm scared about getting her to stay on my back without falling while I do all the tying which is silly I know because I can do it fine with an mt. Just can't figure it out in my head.

They are good instructions thisisyesterday. I think I might give it a try when dp's next at home to watch out for any accidents. I quite like the idea of the chest knot one as it seems quite simple. Thanks.

you need to speak with Loopymumsy who is an avid babywearer and loves wraps.

You could also try bigmamaslings

Ref. dropping. Try practicing next to a bed or the sofa...at 14 months she can take a cushioned tumble and laugh about it.

practise with a big teddy bear or something first

Good ideas. Just tried with a teddy but it was too floppy! grin Will have to find a sturdier one. I'll have a practice by the bed tomorrow I think.
