Up to what age is it acceptable to be nude around your children?

The dd's are nearly four and 18 months at the moment, and at the moment I don't have any problem. But when does it change? And is there a difference between the girls seeing me naked or my dh naked?

It doesn't bother me being naked in front of dds. Dh is a little more careful of himself now they are getting a bit older and wiser.

How old are your children, sparkler?

dh is more careful of being naked now as dd1 knows the difference between boys and girls, but the gilrs follow me everywhere and as we have no lock on the bathroom door, they have seen me naked. they usually run off yelling 'arrrrrrrrrgh boobies' tho.

Good question, my ds is nearly 5, and today he was laughing at my bits.

I don't think you should ever worry, that way that grow up without a complex and you can discuss allsorts...

DH has always been discreet around the boys - whereas I'm quite happy for them to come into the bathroom when I'm in the shower.

I'll stop letting them see me naked once my oldest starts hinting he's embarassed about it - which at the moment doesn't appear to be very close (he's 4 1/2yrs)

I agree with namechangingnortherner.....
Dont make it an issue

My dh has a bath with his daughters every Saturday and I'd be really sad to stop that yet.
Probably okay do carry on until one of the dd's doesn't want to anymore, do you think?

I don't mind either of my children seeing me naked, I gave birth to them after all! Agree with namechangingnorthener, it shouldn't be an issue really.

DS is only 11 months, so nudity's not an issue (he's really pleased when I have a bath with him - I remember his face the first time he realised he could do his two favourite things at once - bath and nurse!). Funnily enough I was wondering about this this morning - I came to the conclusion that I'd let him decide!

Hehehe HunkerMunker my DD has found that particular idea of Heaven too

I remember my friend at school (14?) saying her mum and dad were often naked round the house. She was totally unfazed.
I never fancied going round for tea or sleeping over somehow!

Hi everyone. Have to ask the question. I'm totally new to this and in reading all the messages I see members of the family referred to as dh or ds? What is this abbreviation? Are we not allowed to say names? Advise please.

WideWebWitch · 04/03/2005 23:13

dh = darling/dear husband, ds = darling/dear son, dd = darling dear daughter. You can use names if you like but most people tend not to!

Report
Gwenick · 04/03/2005 23:14

DS - Dear Son
DD - DEar daughter
DH - Dear Husband

there's a full list at the top if you click on acronym list it'll show you all of the ones you can use

You can say the names - it's just easier to call them DS/DD otherwise you could be spending ages saying "who"

It's more a question of when they start injuring you, IMO. My boys are nearly 5 and 11 months, and the baby (who hasn't been breastfed since he was apx 3 months) is fascinated by my nipples, grabbing them, pulling them etc. I just have to cover up in the morning when he's in bed with us, it's bloody painful.

The 5 year old has no problems with us being naked. I certainly wouldn't be naked around friends' kids though, if they came to stay.

My son will be four in April and loves being naked. While I don't wander round the house naked, if he catches me in the bedroom I won't make a dash to cover up. He's starting to ask questions but that's normal. I love seeing all the kids at the beach running around naked. It's just natural. Sad though that you have to keep a look out for others watching.

Wordsmith (not stalking you, promise!) - my 11-month-old DS is also fascinated by my nipples - he flicks them gently when he unlatches mid-feed and grins at me in a rather grown-up fashion!
