1st Birthaday party . Don't know how/where to serve the food.

I am having ds's 1st Bthday party at home and most of his "friends" are more or less same age.
The children food will consist of mini pizza's, sandwiches, breadsticks with healthy dips e.t.c
However, I don't know where the kids will eat ?
I don't have small table and chairs ( tried to hire but can't find anywhere ), I have only one high chair.
DH has suggested a picnic in the front room on a blanket, but somehow it doesn't seem right.
Please help me with some ideeas.

Think the picnic idea is actually very good. There is no other way you are going to be able to sit them all. With kids this age better to give them each their own food rather than letting them choose. And serve savoury stuff first - let them have any biscuits or cake after that.

My ds1 and ds2 both are summer babies so we did picnics in the garden for their first and second birthdays.

Better than a blanket would be one or two large wipeable tablecloths.

Have a lovely party.

monkeys mum i would do the picnic idea...great fun for tots and they will love it also as kayleigh said give them their food on paper plates each or lay out spread in kitchen for relevant careers to fill a plate for their little one
