Next Door Over-Reacting

My DS had a littl argument with the girl next door and during the conversation he's supposed to have said "I'm going to cut you up, eat you and then poo you all over the table". The next door dad heard and came knocking on the door saying DS was disgusting and I ought to have better control. I think he's over-reacting, it was a daft kids argument.
Who's right?

I am on the side of the little girl's dad... not a nice thing to be told, especially the "cut you up" part.

i think a lot of it depends on HOW it was said, if it was said in a "im going to get you and gobble you all up" jokey way then he is over-reacting. although TBH i would probably have a quiet word and say its not really a nice thing to say.

yes I can see why he was annoyed about the cutting part but I think that sounds worse than it was meant. I think he wouldve meant it like cutting up your food, not chainsaw massacre style

When I read this I laughed.
ok it's not v. nice, but yes your neighbour over reacted. if someone said that to one of my kids I'd tell them to ignore and avoid said child.

theinsider that's not a nice thing to say, very antagonistic. From your reaction I would presume that your parenting experience is quite limited.

I think it's a daft kids talk and shouldn't be commented upon personally .. depends on age of child of course (am assuming under 6)

but then it depends how it was said .. I would be far more concerned by a child threatening rather than just playing / chatting .. if it's the latter then no biggie, if the former then I'd probably want to make parents aware and I'd probably have told the child off

She said to him "I'm going to wait until your asleep and then paint all over your face!" and so he said "yeah? well I'm going to cut you up, eat you and then poo you all over the table!" etc etc...

It wasn't said in a whisper in ear "guess what I'm going to do to you...." kind of way!

Drop Dead Fred is a 15. Perhaps that's what your neighbour meant when he said you should have more control

Apparantly she just said "urgh thats gross! im telling" and ran off I think its the poo bit that got them more than the cutting

id explain it to parent and say its from a kids film, although he may have taken it to be violent, it was nothing more than a child copying somthing, same as my dd(yes dd) pretends shes a power ranger..i dont like them, but aparently its the in thing!
