I’m finding this age really challenging! DD is quite young for her age which throws up more problems & I worry she will be easily led. She’s definitely a people pleaser which sometimes gets her into trouble. Then there’s the dreaded hormones! Anyone else struggling with pre - teens? I miss my cuddly 5 year old who thought I was the best Mum ever!

Hi Curry!
Yes Im finding this age super stressful, my DD is really pushing my buttons.
I'm the worst because all her friends are apparently Vaping, drinking, staying out until 10 & I won't let her.
The attitude, the eye rolling, it's horrible and seems never ending!

Oh my goodness I haven’t had any of that yet! Apart from the attitude! Trying to ignore her potty mouth too as it’s mainly showing off in front of her mates. I did tell her off for saying “ Suck my d**ck” tho!

My 12 year old dd is finding school brutal at the moment; just the constant oneupmanship and screeching girls vying for attention. She has friends but finds navigating the social side exhausting. Roll on half term!

She was awful for swearing last year during lockdown which caused many rows but after I was advised to ignore it, she seems to have grown out of it finally.

My 12yo dd is having a dreadful time at school☹️…..she is also ‘young for her age’, i’d say more yr7 than 8 and she’s being picked on awfully by both the girls and boys. This coupled with the hormone surge is making her truly miserable - to be fair desperately want to sit down and cry over it all myself but keeping a brave face on for her😢

Mine is hating school at the moment too,
There were only 7 of them that went down from year 6 to the comp , 2 of them being girls, so they were close, but have grown apart in school/being in lockdown. She's tried making new friends but they seem to fall out so quickly, and girls can be so nasty.
So she is now sitting & eating alone lunch times . Sad
Social media is our biggest problem at the moment, she wants to make herself look older m & like the rest of her peers (but they are all wearing skimpy clothes and lots of makeup!) . I thought comp was horrid when I was there 20 years ago, but I'm glad I wasn't there now phones & social media are involved, if it's not posted online, then it didn't happen! Their lives are online!

I miss the primary school days!

Oh @Scoleah, you have my sympathy - it’s awful to keep sending them back to the hornets nest every day isn’t it?! Mine has started to take herself off somewhere with a book at breaktime (she finds a spot where there’s a member of staff close by just in case) which I think passes the time and takes her mind off it. Social media makes everything so much harder too - you always know when you’re left out even when you’re not at school - it’s brutal. And so much for all the #bekind bollocks….hasn’t exactly caught on has it?!
