I have four children my eldest is now 16 she has serious disabilities can not make any life choice for herself and needs 24 hour care I had my eldest daughter when I was 17 she was born really poorly which I really struggled with my mum sort of took over and in the end went to court where she got gaurdianship over her my daughter live with my mum and stepdad up until now I have just found out my mum has died they kept it from I have three other children now who I look after full time. My eldest daughter is now with my stepdad I’ve always wanted to get my daughter back but would of never took her away from my mum has that’s what she new but now my mum has died she should be with me her biological mum she needs care that contains a lot of private care and I don’t think my stepdad should be doing any of this can anyone please tell me where I would stand with any of this please?

I really don't know. You could try calling social services or a family lawyer for advice? If your step dad wants to maintain care it would become quite a battle.

Whatever decision is made though, will be in the best interests of your daughter, rather than anyone else. Does your daughter have a relationship with you?

How long has your step dad been involved in her care was it from the time guardianship was granted? If he's always done it alongside your mum and your daughter has a close relationship with him I'm not sure it would be in her best interests to move her to live with you especially after losing her primary caregiver and when you're also caring for 3 other children.

At the end of the day what works best for your daughter should be the priority.

Yes I see my daughter but they always give excuses to try keep me away my mum was very bitter over me from been a child when my father left her. During lockdown they stopped me seeing her which was fare enough even when I’d try FaceTime most the time they’d make excuses up this as been going on for years with them. I just really want my daughter where she should of always been with her siblings and mum x
