Neocate and atopic eczema

So this is quite long winded but my little girl has suffered with quite bad eczema since she was like 5 weeks old now 5 months old! Still no better!. She’s been given Neocate for suspected milk allergy but seen no difference at all ( eczema was the only symptom) she’s been onit for 4 weeks now. The only thing that’s making the flare up go down is steroid cream but soon as we stop using it it comes straight back up😰 I’m starting to question is it even a milk allergy as the milk hasn’t made any difference at all?? Anyone had this experience

Could she be reacting to an ingredient in the formula or something in her environment? Just wondering if your GP has referred her to the allergy clinic and a Paediatric Dietician?

I’m not too sure and she’s been referred yes we’ve even paid to see a private dermatologist who said it was atopic eczema.

I'd go back to the GP. According to the NICE Guidelines treatment resistant atopic eczema is a good reason to be referred to the allergy clinic.

I'd also ask for a referral to a Paediatric Dietician who can help you with weaning.

Good luck and let us know how you get on Smile

Not sure I can advise but I have similar with my 8 month old. Got diagnosed with cmpa at 4 months (ebf) only symptom was eczema . Still get eczema now but like you have steroids and hydromol to control it, it isn't too bad. Since weaning he also has other food allergies so that probably hasn't helped. I have recently got him to take formula ( sma alfamino) as I'm going back to work soon. I would definitely chase a referral to dietician as I was waiting since 4 months and only saw them at 7 months after we'd started weaning which was annoying. Dietitian does seem to know a lot about the eczema side of things tho which is helpful

I have no answers, but we are going through the same thing with the eczema with our 14 week old! We have tried so many creams and ointments and the only thing that works is the steroid ointment and as soon as we stop, even just over night it flares up again! The doctors and HV have dismissed any milk allergy and they have said its something that's touching his skin! We have tried different laundry tablets and nothing helps!
Its horrible watching him rub his face and the poor thing constantly has socks on his hands, I don't know if he will ever learn to grab anything!
