Transitioning to cows milk

My formula fed dd is coming up to 12 months so I’ve started thinking about the transition from formula to cows milk. How did you make the transition? Did you take it slowly/in stages? Or just stopped with formula as soon as they hit 1 year?

I currently feed her three times a day - morning, lunch and bedtime. Do I continue this or give less. Did you stop using bottles and move onto cups straight away? She uses cups for water so this won’t be new to her.

Just to say, she has been having cows milk added to food since weaning at 6 months.

Sorry, so many questions! TIA.

Just went straight to cows milk but in a bottle (apart from a bedtime where it’s a formula bottle). Can put in a cup during the day if you want.

I switched one bottle at a time, starting with the morning bottle. Dd1 wouldn’t take it at first (even though she had it fine with her cereal!), but she had always had warm formula so I warmed the cows milk and that worked.
I did the same with dd2 but she still didn’t drink it, so we did half formula and half cows milk in all the bottles and then over a few days gradually reduced the formula and the increased the cow’s milk.
As soon as they were downing the cows milk no problem, we made the switch to a cup. If you have a child who adapts well to change, you might try to make both changes at once. If you think that will be stressful, change to milk first and get rid of the bottles later.
