how many sleepsuits and how many vests should i buy in newborn?

what did your babies weigh when born and how long did size up to 1 month last?

My first LO weighed seven pounds when newborn and my second weighed nine pounds.
First was in up to a month for a few weeks (maybe four) but my second didn't fit theirs at all.
I only bought a couple of items in up to a month and lots in up to three months.

Everyone kept telling me not to buy too many newborn outfits but my baby ended up having IUGR and only weighed 3lb 9oz (born at 36 weeks) so she didn’t even fit in newborn for a good 2 months and was in them for a long time!

I didn’t buy too much up to 1 month, went straight to 0-3 months.

My 8lb 6oz baby dropped a lot of weight and was in newborn for 6 weeks, my second 8lb4oz baby was in them for 3!

I had ten vest and ten suits in the first size and it was perfect!

8lb8. Newborn didn’t fit.
Up to one month lasted maybe a month?
He fitted in 0-3 vests fine from birth.

8- up to 1 month sleepsuits
10 - 0-3 vests
2 cardigans

Both mine were 7lb 15oz, dd fit into newborn for about 2 weeks, and first size/upto 1m for about 6 weeks. I went straight for upto 1m for ds as I didn't see the point in newborn for him, I know we he was going to be roughly the same size from my midwife appointments. He fitted in upto 1m for 5 weeks and is now in 0-3

Mine was born 6lb13 at 41 weeks and the newborn stuff fit for about a week and a half (she put weight on pretty fast and is now 90th percentile)

How big is the baby measuring? Is she/he likely to be a small or big baby? Although its not totally accurate id go off that.

My DS was 9lb2 and didnt ever fit in newborn stuff. I think he was in 0-3months straight away. It was a bit big for about 2 weeks.

As for how many, it really depends how often you want to wash. Id buy 10 or so and see how you get on. You make have a sicky baby which means multiple outfit changes per day!

It’s impossible to know until they’re born IMO. Everyone told me don’t get much in newborn, go straight to 0-3. My baby was 6lb so not super tiny, some of the newborn stuff was too big and 0-3 swamped her - she was in 0-3 until about 5 or 6 months!!! Equally others’ babies didn’t fit newborn at all. I’d get a couple in newborn as most babies fit that at least a couple of weeks then you can judge once baby arrives and buy more then.
