Testing products on yourself before children

Does anyone else do this? I can't be the only one?

A friend recommended me a brand that makes skin care for children, so I went ahead and bought some lotion and shampoo for my 10mo. This was a few weeks ago, and I spoke to her just a couple of days ago and mentioned how I liked the product and how mild it was as I'd tested it on my skin first (I have sensitive skin) and she seemed surprised, almost offended as if I didn't trust her recommendation.

It's not me being precious. I have a 3-year-old and I've done it since she was a baby. I never thought it was peculiar, but now I'm having second thoughts since our phonecall and wondering if I'm a bit mad... confused

I've never done it, but I don't think it's that peculiar smile

No I never did, but I always think about the MNer who confessed to squirting 'no more tears' shampoo in her eyes before using it on her baby smile
