Bamboo plates

I'm eyeing up some bamboo animal shaped plates on the internet from bamboo bamboo and bubbaboo. Before I invest, I wonder do people use them with their babies and toddlers in real life or they just an Instagram thing? They're gorgeous, but don't want to buy if they're likely to end up unused in the cupboard!

I use them. I don't think you can put them in the dishwasher though.

I wouldn’t use anything which can’t be chucked in the dishwasher.

I use them - I’ve got the fox and penguin, they have a suction base which is handy. I don’t have a dishwasher so don’t worry about that. They are fun but they are ultimately just a plate!

We used them and used to take one with us when out and travelling. They never ended up on the floor

I use them. I do put them in the dishwasher. Will definitely effect how long they last. But I got fed up of hand washing them.

We use them all the time - they are great and the suction is a godsend

I didn't know you weren't supposed to put them in the dishwasher?! Heck! I have been for years. No idea what brand we have. Got them in TK Maxx.

We had them bought as gifts and although they look nice, they're a bit redundant. She doesn't use bowls or plates yet (throws them), just eats off her tray.

They don't go in the dishwasher and I can't see us getting a huge amount of use out of them - maybe when she's older. So really, it depends on the age and stage if your child.

I use them and have done since we started weaning. The Fox and elephant plates are snack plates after 12 months so bear that in mind if you’re trying to save money. I bought one Fox plate and one bunny plate - you don’t need a bowl with the bunny plate as DS is easily able to eat soups / porridge etc from it

I used one with DD1. It had good suction onto the Ikea highchair tray. My daughter could never get it off. I put it in the dishwasher, it was fine. We used it until about 18 months/2years at which point we switched to a regular plastic plate/bowel as that was the point she stopped lobbing things on the floor!

DD2, I’ve gone with a silicone plate in the shape of an elephant. Bit cheaper. Does the same job.

I prefer using a plate of some kind as although the tray does still get messy, the majority is contained to a plate I can just lift away & clean!

I havent got the bamboo bamboo ones but I bought sets from aldi with a plate, bowl, cup and cutlery for about 4 or 5 quid each I think. I really like them. I dont use a dishwasher anyway, but you dont have to be careful if they throw them coz they can snap. I think dd broke some of the cutlery the first day we had the first set. Luckily shes out of that stage now

Ds has one of the bamboo bamboo three part plates and one bowl. We've used them for every single meal since weaning. Hes now 2. They travel well too.

We don't have a dishwasher but on the odd occasion that they've been accidentally left soaking in the sink for too long, a quick rub with coconut oil revives them.
