Start using Mumsnet PremiumHelp- my 3 month old suddenly hates her nan!
(9 Posts)Can anyone offer me any advice?! My 3 month old baby has just suddenly started screaming and throwing a crying tantrum whenever she sees my
Mum 😢 she’s been seeing her once a week since she was born and loved cuddles etc but for the last 2 weeks whenever she looks at my mum or she picks her up she cries and screams until she starts coughing and nothing will stop her unless I have her and cuddle her and even then it takes 5 minutes to calm her down. My
Mum is so upset bless her as it’s her first grandchild and she adores her, she’s spent so much on her and I feel so awfully guilty as my
Mum thinks my little girl hates her 🥺 she doesn’t do it around my partners parents.
Any advice would be really appreciated!
New perfume or fabric conditioner or deodorant or something? New hairdo? Scratchy jumper?
It could just be she's aware it's not you. She probably won't be seeing many of people at the moment either so mummy is all she needs. My middle child was like this. From a very young age she cried if anyone spoke to her that wasn't me or her daddy or my mum. And she wouldn't go to anyone. She grew out of it eventually!!
Does she wear glasses? My eldest cried at people with glasses at that age.
'Making strange' my mum and granny called it. It's just a phase.

What do your partners parents do differently? Because they must be doing something differently but you just haven’t noticed.
In my case DS loves my sister (which I encourage with caution as she has severe Mh issues) but doesn’t like going near mum, because my sister plays with him and talks to him on his terms while mum has a tendancy to want to hold him on her lap.
@GrumpyHoonMain OPs baby is 3 months, she can't play or talk.
Have you always been around when she's been with her?
@Razpoot pretty much all the time yes- when she was a few weeks old I'd maybe pop upstairs for a nap or go to the shops but haven't done that for a long time now.
