This is something I've been struggling with anyway with my DD as we tend to do something different everyday. She was born the day before lockdown so after months of being trapped inside on my own with her when she was a newborn (DH is a key worker and can't WFH) and therefore going slightly mad, as soon as we were allowed we've been getting out and about as much as we possibly can and we rarely have days at home all day just the two of us. Obviously she's very different to a newborn now so lockdown this time will not be sitting for endless hours watching Netflix with either a sleeping or feeding baby so could you please just offer your day to day routines so I can try to plan what our days can look like. We luckily have all our parents and don't know any single adult households so we can't bubble with anyone.
At the moment our vague routine I thought could look like:

Wake up, morning cuddle, breakfast
Get dressed
Play / housework chores together
Nap
Lunch
Go for a walk
Nap
Play / read books
Make dinner
Daddy home
Eat dinner
Bath, book, bed.

Thank you.

Any online baby classes OP?
Also when you say go for a walk are you going round the block? Do you drive? I’d be inclined to drive and walk around diff parks/ forrests for some variety.

I shall look into some but there were no baby classes physically up and running in my area. I do love right by the forest so walks are in good supply.
Thank you

At that age (actually at my daughters age too-3) i count a trip to the supermarket as an activity- anything where you are talking and engaging.

Look on Pinterest for ideas and have a structured activity at least once a day. Paint in a ziplock bag with paper to squidge around, 'painting' with natural yoghurt plus food colouring, water play, sensory food play etc. I'd have a nursery rhyme session and a story time session planned in. Baby Club on CBeebies is nice to play along to, too. Obviously a walk once or twice a day.

Is there somewhere you can go to feed the ducks? I’d work that into your routine
I’d also be flexible with your walk time based on the weather

MAke up a play list of songs that you can pick her up and dance around to. Also action songs like heads shoulders knees and toes. She will think it’s fun to watch you do it.
Water play is a great activity. I’d maybe change her bath time and extend it so she can play in the bath for a long period.

You could also vary your walks by sometimes having her in a sling or backpack rather than the buggy.

I’d go to the library now and stock up on books.
Would she sit on the high chair while you cook in the kitchen if you chat to her?? You could use the opportunity to get a head start on dinner or do some baking as an activity.
Use her nap time to do something nice for yourself

I think getting out once or twice a day is a good idea - especially as it gets darker earlier in the afternoon every day now. At that age DD liked treasure baskets to play with, a foil blanket was a big hit and anything she could roll or shake that made a noise.

Pinterest was my saviour when I was a SAHM. Some great ideas on there. Playgrounds are staying open this time, thank goodness. Also visit your library before Thursday. Get some good books into read for you and baby. Research YouTube for ideas.

Get a good pram cover and waterproofs for you so on days when the plan is working get outside for a walk, regardless of the weather.

Look at recipes and things to make baby for weaning. Make salt dough christmas decorations together.
Homemade Christmas presents are fun to put together as well. Zoom play dates. This is obviously more for you than baby but you need other mums and friends or family to talk to.

You need some fun time and relaxing time each day for your own sanity op. If you miss a day or have a pj day don't worry about it.

I try and pop out twice per day with 6 month old as find it really helps break the day up. A longer walk in morning in pram whilst he naps and I pop into supermarket/ shops if needed. Then afternoon local wander in sling, often bump into neighbours then doing similar so can have someone to talk to also

Thank you. The play suggestions are really helpful. I'll get on Pinterest too.

My 7 month old loves the swings - obviously I need to hold him around the middle as they don't provide enough support and we go very slowly but it makes a trip to the park last a bit longer, and he also enjoys watching the big kids. We also go on the big tyre swing together (I have no shame Grin) so I'd definitely do this a couple of times a week.

Blitzed up cheerios as edible sand was a big hit with my DD at that age.

I also liked to vary the room we were in as often as possible, so I had some toys in the living room and some in the conservatory. I'd take her to do chores with me like putting washings away in our room or hoovering her room etc. Probably more for me so I wasn't staring at the same walls!

We also did lots of hands on practice walking with her push along, she was walking by 9m and I'm sure the process was sped up by lockdown!!

I’d say don’t stress about a routine and if there bored at that age as everything is amazing and stimulating to them even watching you do things around the house. I know mine used to be whiney at that age but a walk was enough. Save all the activity planning for once there on the move.
