White noise

Over the heat wave in the summer DS got used to having the fan on as he was still in our room which was reaching 28/29 degrees. Now he is in his own room we have had to move the fan down as it keeps him settled but it just gets in the way.
Has anyone got any recommendations for either smaller fans that would fit on his unit, or more portable type white noise machine/teddy that has fan/vacuum type noises rather than heartbeat or waves, that we could use instead.

I just use an app on my phone and put it in my DC bedroom at night.

Amazon Alexa is another option.

We have the skip hop owl. Both the plug in version for night and the portable for daytime Pram naps. Wouldn't be without them.

Avantek white noise machine from Amazon. Can be used on battery or plugged in/usb. Has lots of different sounds and volume control. Remembers your previous selection each time you switch it on. Probably the best baby buy we made x

I should add we chose this as Ewan the sheep etc cut off after a while and also drain through batteries. This stays on until you switch it off, but also has timer settings if you prefer.
Also didn't want to use an iPad or an Alexa x

We just use an old phone with a free app called Baby Sleep. It has natural, transport and household white noise sections with multiple choices for each one. Our 20 month old sleeps to sea waves and naps to the hairdryer. It also has a fan noise in the household section, plus volume control and a timer if you want it but we just let it run all night.

As per twiglet I second the Avantek machine from Amazon. It’s very good and has done us well for DS2.

Also app called “white noise” with a pink logo is good for if you’re out somewhere or staying overnight and you forget the machine.

We also have the Avantek. It’s great. I don’t know why people muck about with toys. A proper white noise machine has more selection of sounds, plug in so no batteries, higher quality sound.

The atmosphere app is great. Loads of different sounds to layer. We use the Marpac Hushh white noise machine which is amazing. I gift it to all new parents! It's portable and rechargable

We loved the Hummy but it goes through batteries at a ridiculous rate, so we now use a fan. It's a normal size I've though.

If advocate for something you can plug in or charge easily as it's a nightmare of the batteries for in the night.

White noise app on a phone or we have a Ollie the owl which uses less battery power than a Ewan.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have been researching them. Thinking something portable might be best as DS dosent nap well if at all when out so I wonder if having white noise would help.

I always thought that, anything with batteries has the worst sound quality. If you're listening to it all night you don't want it to be all rattled

I have a little portable one that does white noise, running water, heavy rain etc. I can't remember the make but there are a lot of different versions around.

We have an Ollie the owl. We bought rechargeable AA batteries and a battery charger as it does get through a lot of batteries. Probably needs changing weekly, though we run it all night and for a 2 hour nap (on a setting where it goes off but comes back on in response to noise. In reality I think it’s on quite a lot!)
