11 day old with sore bum hole!

Help please! My 11 day old has a red raw bum hole and the skin has started to come away. She screams when it's time for nappy changes.

I'm now cleaning with cotton wool and water letting air dry for a few mins and then putting on sudocrem

But should I be putting the sudocrem on broken skin or should I use something else? It's antiseptic so I thought it would be okay but I'm not too sure

Metanium ointment is the best for nappy rash. Poor little thing

I would be ringing the drs

My baby had to be given stoma medication as she had a hole in her bottom

I'd ring. Just to see what they say. I wouldn't put sudocream on it though.

Thanks, I've sent hubby out for metanium. We have a family friend who is a doctor and also recommended this. Just trying to give her bum some air for as long as possible

Poor thing it's really upsetting her :(

Metanium is a miracle cure all for all sorts of things. Be really careful though about letting it touch white sheets, pale carpets etc as its the colour of Mustard and stains like a bastard. Really good stuff though.

Have you been using baby wipes on her? My baby couldn't tolerate them and got such a sore bum any time I tried. I had to use cotton wool and water until she was about 7 months. Even water wipes made her sore.
Definite recommend metanium to help clear it up.

Another shout for Metanium, my middle child was similarly sore and this was a godsend. And never using wet wipes, making sure it was cotton wool and water for every nappy change- wet wipes are really rough on newborn skin. Metanium is amazing though.

Thanks all! Got the metanium and have slathered it on. Hoping it will help her and she'll feel much better x

Drapolene is an anti-septic nappy rash cream. Ive found it worked really well if you find the metanium doesnt work.

Ilex is fantastic - if you google it and go on their website, you can email for a sample tube. Only thing that worked for us with a moist rash as no other creams stuck. Good luck.

Metanium is equally the best thing ever and the devils work! Good luck op. X

Also I don't know if it's been mentioned but plenty of nappy off time over the next while. Get her on a nappy mat and lie with her. X

Honestly for an 11 day old I would have a chat with a GP. It could be any number of things. It could be a sign of a milk allergy (especially if formula fed). Sometimes babies do get sore bottoms, and usually an anti fungal works when something like metanium doesn’t, but she’s still very tiny and it’s worth checking in.

At 11 days if that bad I would ring GP for advice or ask for HV visit.

Give your GP or HV a call for reassurance.

My 7mo had nappy rash a few months ago plenty of nappy free time during the day, I just lay him on a towel and it kept the floor dry and him warm. Also yellow metanium spread thin and then some sudocrem on top

My DS was in NICU and had it really bad. The nurses there were using Orabase on him as metanium did nothing as the skin was so cracked and bleeding. Worked for him luckily. I picked some up in the pharmacy after he was discharged for home. Turns out it's for ulcers lol

The antiseptic sudocrem stings on broken skin. When she's past the worst of it try vaseline around the affected area under a layer of nappy cream that has zinc in it. This should create a waterproof barrier that stop the poo and wee creating that burn.
