Is the groegg accurate?

Hi!

My little boy is 9 weeks old. Tonight I’ve put him in a sleepsuit and 1.5 tog sleep bag as my room feels quite chilly (I’m wearing a hoodie to bed!)

But I’ve just turned on our gro egg and it says it’s 22.1 degrees, it certainly doesn’t feel like it!

Has anyone else found them to be inaccurate? I don’t know whether to wake him and take the sleep bag or sleepsuit off but he feels okay for now.

Thank you! X

Ours is pretty accurate - our heating thermostat is set at 21 degrees and our gro egg usually reflects this.

I’d say the same. Ours seems fairly close to what the thermostat says. Maybe you have a faulty one?

I’m certain they are calibrated towards overestimating the heat (because it’s safer to have baby cooler). Ours drove us insane, it was always red and angry! I remember opening the window in November to try and cool our ingested room down to please the damn egg. Gave up and unplugged it after a couple of weeks. As long as baby isn’t sweaty or feeling excessively hot on their chest or back of their neck, it’s fine. Their hands and feet are supposed to feel cool.

*unheated (not ingested, thank you autocorrect!)

Technology is not a replacement for your own judgement. If the room feels cool to you and the baby isn't too hot, go with your gut.

I’ve never had a thermometer. I just go on how the room feels. Your baby will be fine, you are def overthinking! Babies don’t overhead in a sleepsuit & sleeping bag. They overheat from piles of blankets or really hot, padded clothes & blankets.

I had my first during a heatwave. Our bedroom was 31 degrees. Nothing I could do about that temp except blow a fan on her! We all survived. Was a sweaty, horrible week though!
