Help! Desperately Need sleep advice for 9 weeks

Hi

So I'm going insane by the lack of sleep and need some advice on his sleep.

So he is 9 weeks and he sleeps from 8.30 to about 2 but then at 3.30 he wakes up every hour! I don't feel like I've even slept!

How do I stop him waking up every hour?

I combi feed but Bf in the night. He has a bottle before bed should I do a bottle when he wakes at 2 to fill him up more?

In desperate need of advice

swaddling was wonderful for my non-sleeping baby.

Also, co-sleeping can be good if you have a big bed.

A bottle at 2am won't necessarily help but more daytime feeding might.

8.30pm-2am is quite a long stint though, especially for a newborn? You could try a bottle at 2am, make sure the room isn't too chilly, try white noise, co-sleep and so forth, but also go to bed early yourself to make the most of that long sleep in the first part of the night.

I wish my 14 month old could managed 8.30 until 2.30. Try cosleeping. I think you may need to adjust your expectations. If your not already doing it try going to sleep at 8.30 when your baby does.

You're luckier than you think! Take advantage of the 5.5 hour window where he's asleep, and go sleep for the rest of it

Go to bed when he does. It's the only way to get reasonable sleep in the early weeks.

Sorry to say, but that sounds good! My 5 month old did that roughly, but the last 2 months almost he’s been getting worse and worse. He now sleeps around 8.30-9pm and then wakes every 60-90mins until morning. Last night he was also wide awake 2-4am.

Do you go to sleep at 8.30pm when baby does? That’s what I have been doing.

I have a 9 week old ebf - he goes down around 9 then usually up at 12, 3 and 6 so near enough every 2.5-3 hours - his 3am wake up normally lasts an hour or so. First few weeks he would wake hourly so to get 3 hours in one go is bliss!

I would go to sleep at half 8 and take that block of sleep if possible ☺️

You need to go to sleep when baby does - that way you get a good chunk. Sorry to say it but the sleep sounds good for 9 weeks!

Are you getting any rest during the day?

Have you tried doing a dream feed at 11pm ish? Babies only get one long block of sleep mostly at this age, so breaking that up so he sleeps 8.30-11 and then after that feed he may hopefully then do the longer stretch. Plus make sure he’s fed loads in the day

I was in the same boat as you but then I started to bf and put dd to sleep downstairs with me at around 7.30-8pm then at around 10 once her dad got home from work, he would give her a bottle (usually while I showered, if I had the energy!) and then I'd take her up to bed and go to bed myself. She then usually slept through until around 4am when I would bf again. She's now 7.5months and sleeps through the night most nights so hang in there, it gets better!

You need to adjust your expectations, that's very good sleep for a 9 week old.

Sleep deprivation is so, so hard. Speak to your HV if you are not coping. Thanks

We did the same as WingingIt, put down at 7, DH woke him at 10, they watched the news together, good bottle feed once he was properly awake, back down at 11ish and then he would go through to 7am with one waking at about 3/4.
