Just wondering about parents that had babies with reflux/colic, when did you notice an improvement? DS is 16w and it's so so hard.

Any positive stories from people who have already come out the other side would be good!

hey, it's rough. My Dd had reflux. She grew out of it about 20 weeks.

We had gaviscon from the gp which seemed to help

i would add that i could not put down DD at all. Any lying flat would result in screaming.

angle your crib if you can, it helped.

Also Dd would go into a swing seat for 15/20 mins so would recommend that too

@bob1985 ah thanks! I'd love it if this was over by 20 weeks lol. We were prescribed gaviscon but he's already quite constipated and heard it can make it much worse..

it can but my DD never had any issues. we used it every second feed roughly.

You can speak the GP/HV about reducing the dose too. I was told that sometimes they are prescribed the max for their weight, but actually a much smaller amount will counter most of the reflux issue and reduce the risk of the stomach problems

My DS has reflux, we had a lot of weight issues from it due to not keeping down milk. For us the gaviscon didn't work and was a battle to get him to take it, so the stress just made the reflux worse. Our HV recommended carobel powder and it worked a treat in bottles! You can get it at the chemist, if they don't have it they should be able to order it in for you. Or if you've got a really good GP they may even do it on prescription. DS has just turned 1 and still has the occasional bad reflux day. The transition to solid foods did help a lot!
