Hi, my little boy is 7 months so just looking into which car seat I should be getting when he needs to go up a size. We have the silvercross pioneer with isofix so not sure which ones are compatible? Thanks in advance

Your current carseat should fit your lo until they reach 13kg or their head is above the headrest. You shouldn't move them until they reach the weight limit or they are too big for it (when head goes over headrest).

The simplicity is one of the longest lasting seats and can typically last until 15/18 months. Have you tried raising the headrest? this is a good guide on how to as many people think it’s outgrown early! Try this then reassess in a few months or so Smile

Ask pp said have you adjusted it for an older baby. I thought ds had outgrown his until I removed the new born insert

The next size up car seats aren’t pushchair compatible, they stay in the car.
We will be moving up shortly as my DD almost 11 months but the infant carrier getting heavy to lift and hard to use although I think it will technically fit her for several months yet.

We are getting the Britax Dualfix next I think but it depends what car you have.

Your current seat should last for many months yet. But incase you're forward planning, do you know what percentile height and weight he is?

Most next size car seat are described as to 4 years (18kg), this is an average and if he is a tall or heavy chap he will grow out of it earlier (Potentially 3-3.5 years) You'd then have the decision to put him in a booster seat with adult belt or buy another seat with a 25kg weight limit. I'm mention this because if he is looking tall heavy then you might want to by a seat with a 25kg limit rather than 18kg

I have the joie extended rear facing.....much safer for them to continue rear facing

My dd was in her carrier until 20 months and she was at one point a 91st centile baby. I've gone for an extended rear facing car seat 25kg, which is Swedish plus tested the Britax May Way plus. The Facebook car seat group, is great for advice re best car seat and fit for the car you have.

We had to move due to incandescent rage at being reclined rather than upright from about 10 months. Regularly screamed until she puked (wasn’t tricky tbh, reflux made her the puking champion anyway). Maybe look at getting one that’s suitable for rear facing, as they are supposed to stay that way until 15 months. Joie 360 is good.

Well what a wonderful read this was, I never knew that and he did seem uncomfortable with the straps so low! Just adjusted them now. Hes in thr 50th percentile so should be fine for a while yet! Thank you x
