Meal ideas for 1 year old

JBCG · 27/07/2020 19:25

Our childcare arrangements have changed slightly and DS is no longer getting dinner at nursery and I'm struggling for ideas!

He eats pretty much anything, but past omelettes, pasta, fish fingers and chicken and veg I'm having a brain freeze!

Any meal ideas would be very welcome!

I finish work at 5pm and we give him dinner at 530 so ideally quick / easy to prep meals would be best but obviously happy to spend more time when time allows.

Thank you in advance x

I always do a cold dinner after nursery, assuming they’ve had a hot lunch. Some kind of combination of sandwich, falafel, savoury muffin, cheese, cold meat, hard boiled egg, veggie sticks, hummus etc etc. Alternatively, egg fried rice (with whatever veggies are languishing in the fridge!) is quick and easy. Gnocchi cooks quickly, even from frozen. I put some veggies in to cook with the gnocchi and stir the pesto and maybe some creme fraiche in to help cool it down.

I tend to batch cook up meals and freeze them or freeze extra portions from our dinner to make it easier to feed DD. We do:
Spaghetti bolognese
Lasagne
Meatballs
Shepherds pie
Mild chilli
Pasta bake with chicken
Sausages/sausage casserole
Chicken in gravy with veg
Pesto chicken
Chicken in a light mushroom sauce
Chicken casserole
Fish cakes
Home made chicken nuggets
Chicken in a wrap with peppers
Turkey meatballs with gravy
Cod with mashed potato
Leftover roast dinner
Chicken korma although that has varied success

Thank you so much!! These seem very doable - don't know why I had such a brain freeze!

Try the BabyLedWeaningCookbook I make their savoury muffins and freeze them, take them out for the following day each night.

For dinners I batch cook and freeze in little tubs.

Same for snacks etc.
