Weighing newborn at home?

I have a 2 week old. We've been discharged by midwife after fighting jaundice, baby is now above birth weight but my HV called and said that they are not currently checking babies weight due to Covid. How am I supposed to know my baby is gaining weight? Can I do it at home somehow?

We have been in the same situation. I found standing on a scale myself and then again holding baby. It's not greatly accurate but you get a rough weight.

If you have a flat bathroom scale could you place a small baby bath or a baby bath support on it, set it to 0 then add baby?

I stood on a bathroom scale and got my partner to hand me the baby. I did it 3 times and got a very similar result each time, which tells me its fairly accurate. Then my partned did it 3 times, and got the.same weight for the baby.

It’s ridiculous and so wrong that HVs still aren’t seeing new mothers IMO. You can get a haircut and see the dentist but not a HV or GP? It doesn’t make sense.

This makes me feel so sorry for parents.
I’m a Hv and have been visiting throughout due to need.
Some want us and others decline.

I ended up buying scales on amazon as although my scales always matched my weigh ins for consultants appointments for me, when I tried the myself then add baby and find the difference always measured him a kg off what he was! We’ve had lots of feeding issues due to cmpa so I needed to know weights at the height of lockdown (March baby)

I know from my FB support group that many HV will now come and weigh baby or give you the scales to weigh on the doorstep or invite you to appointment only clinics etc. if you’re worried baby isn’t gaining

Congratulations on your baby xx
