When do I need to stop timing feeds?

Baby is 11 days old and developed jaundice due to forceps birth. Midwives said I should feed her every 3 hours so have had alarms set all week. Baby got the all clear yesterday as she's now above birth weight, not as yellow and is more active than she was. When can I stop the alarms and let her let me know when she's hungry?

Now but notice if it seems very long since the last one. You’re unlikely to have this issue she’ll likely shout when she’s hungry.

Thanks. She mostly does but does sometimes go upto 4 hours and I'm afraid of her jaundice coming back or her going hungry.

My son had jaundice and was told to feed every 3 hours. Once up to his birth weight I was told I could relax more but not to let him go longer than 4 hours. If your worried give your HV a call.

I would feed every 3 hours during the day and then let wake up over night.

OP I’ve been in your position and really struggled to let go of the alarms even though I was knackered. It made me feel better to set an alarm for every 4 hours so it never went too long but tbh once she started waking up more she certainly let me know when she was hungry and generally before my alarm! Congrats on the baby and glad they’re doing better it was a horrible time for me when they were jaundiced when in hospital.
