Hi there !!
I'm looking for some advice !
My LG takes 4 9oz bottles a day and drains the lot of them ! Here's her routine

Wakes 8/9 bottle
Bottle 3.5/4 hours later
230 lunch
5 bottle
630 dinner
830 bottle

Looking to see if I should drop a bottle and introduce a breakfast and up the foods ?
She's a little chunky monkey with all the wee rolls but looking for some mum advice :)!

36 oz of formula seems like a lot! I think it’s about 20oz at 7 Months! Maybe worth a check as it was a while ago for us.

That does sound like a lot of milk for that age. Ours is slightly different as she's 8 months & combo fed but here goes:
6am wake & breastfeed
8am breakfast
9am bottle & nap (3oz)
10.30am wake
11.30am lunch
2pm bottle & nap (5oz)
3pm wake
4pm dinner
6pm bath, bottle (6oz) & asleep around 6.30pm
She wakes throughout the night to breastfeed but it's more for comfort now (trying to cut back on night feeds!)
I'd also ideally like her to have her bottles on waking but we've got into a routine of milk then nap. She eats 3 decent sized meals.

I have no idea about formula, but if she's drinking them all then I'd leave milk as is, but introduce breakfast as well.

@Spam88

It would probably take a 7 month old 8 hours a day to BF that amount of milk.

A fair amount then? 😂

Thanks all ! I think it's quite a lot too but like I said she is draining them and having a dinner with a pud and a decent lunch now and still taking them ! I googled and said average is about 32-36oz
So she's on 36! Chunky monkey indeed ...
Was juts looking for advice on would this be best time to drop a bottle and add breakfast so I was thinking like

Bottle when up
Breakfast
Then a lunch
Say a bottle about 2
Dinner
Bottle bed ?

Does that seem okay ?

Sounds good to me. Or you could do a 4th bottle but cut 2oz out of each of the other bottles. Apart from Maybe keep the 90oz before bed as sounds like your little one is sleeping well so maybe don’t change that!!!

Hope returning to work goes well, sounds like you are doing a great job 🤗

Also if you’re routine is currently working really well don’t feel like you have to change it for the sake of it. You could keep yo what you were doing but cut 2Oz of formula out the first 3 bottles and add a breakfast?

Mine is crawling and starting to pull up so is very mobile so we will likely introduce a brunch type meal before lunch as he does seem to need a lot during meals. If your routine works then go for it - just do what you need to really

Hey,

We also have a big baby, same age as yours (already 11kgs) and last month we significantly reduced his milk intake (he didn't fuss at all)..

Rough schedule is:

4am dream feed 5oz (by doing this he sleeps until 7am, without it he wakes at 5am and does not go back to sleep)
7:30am breakfast
10am bottle 5oz
12noon lunch
2:30pm bottle 5oz
5pm dinner
6:30om boffle 6oz with bedtime around 6:45-7pm

He naps ever 2.5 hours and we don't let him sleep past four pm. You know what's best for your baby, dont worry about her being a little chunky monkey (so cute and squishy) it doesn't mean they will stay that way when they start moving about.

Yeah thanks again 💖
By the looks of it it seems to be working as she doesn't wake at all during the night for a feed which is great lol.
Moving house next week so will try the following week with a breakfast thank you xx

Mine is the same age and a chunky little lad too :) he also loves his food and eats a good portion at breakfast and lunch. Going to introduce dinner next week, but still offer him the same milk and see what he naturally drops down to, if that makes sense.

Usual routine:
Wake up around 6:30 - 8oz bottle
Breakfast at 8:30
Bottle around 9:30 (normally has around 5oz)
Half an hour nap on walk at 10:30
Lunch at 12:30
Bottle at 1:30 (normally around 5oz)
Nap around 2-4ish
Bottle at 6:30 (8oz-12oz)
Sleep at 7ish

Not sure about the purpose of your post if you say your routine is working great and she’s sleeping great...? Seems like it’s just trying to show how well she’s sleeping?!

Report
Jenny2020 · 23/07/2020 00:23

Sorry I find that a little rude ?
Yes she does sleep great but I'm looking to drop a bottle and introduce another meal as I feel now is the time to do so ?

Also yes that is a worry as I love that she sleeps during the night so because I'm so used to it I hate the thought of messing with that routine, but she can't live on this routine forever lol !
The purpose of my post was to look for advice from other mothers for their kid the same age , as like I said I feel she is taking in an awful lot of milk and doesn't seem to be slowing down or dropping them herself - like I was told would naturally happen

If I wanted to just tell everyone about how great my daughter sleeps then I would've wrote it on a difference thread and not started my own.
Just looking for advice and I feel I have been shot down there
