(13 Posts)Today is the day we are going to try and get rid of the dummies. Does anyone have any good ideas of where I tell my ds they are going?
The dummy fairy came and got them.
I thought this was going to be a thread about missing dummies though, I was going to say that last year, when DS was 12, I found a dummy in the water butt. All those missing dummies are still turning up!
we gave them to other babies that might need them more
We used the dummy fairy too. Dummies under the pillow (like for the tooth fairy) and money there in t he morning. It was easier than I expected. Yes yes to finding stray dummies years later!
I said in the run up that they where going to other babies then once I got rid of them I just said your a big girl now and don't need dummies
I had to post a letter so we told ds we were posting them to another little boy that needed them, he walked with me to the postbox and put the letter in. He cried at bedtime for about 2 nights that he wanted it which nearly broke me but we managed it
I don't really get this "dummy fairy" business - we just did "dummies are for babies and you're a big girl so you don't need them anymore" and the dummies went in the bin. Why would you bother with a big production and a bunch of weird lies? I struggle to understand this trend of treating kids like they're unable to comprehend simple concepts.
We made a bargain. Bought a more 'grown up' toy that my D.C. had coveted to replace the dummies. My D.C. agree to throw the dummies away in return for the toy. So we threw the dummies away. It was surprisingly easy.
We threw dummies away in replacement for a new toy! We did do a big toy and explain how it’s for big boys this toy so you can’t have dummies now!
I didn’t say anything. I just cut them all up and he didn’t have them anhkore
Yes, we found it a lot easier than we thought it would be too!
I cut a hole in them... Oops they broke!! DS sucked them for one night and threw them away in disgust. DD was much harder.. we gave them to baby Jesus at Christmas lol! And also to the fairies at a fairy tree in the forest
Swapped them for a new toy ... DS asked if a dummy fairy would take them 'like the tooth fairy' so went along with the dummy fairy. Surprisingly easy , no tears at all.
