Should I try cranial osteopathy?

My baby had a failed forceps delivery followed by EMCS. He’s now 7 weeks old. Could the forceps have left him in any pain and how would I know if it had?

I ask because he’s now 7 weeks and has been crying a lot this past week. It could (and probably is) just be normal baby behaviour, but I’m wondering if a course of cranial osteopathy could help him generally? If anyone has any recommendations for places in London please let me know...

Sorry you’re struggling, I’ve had a few friends who’ve tried cranial osteopathy for various reasons and honestly I think it’s a load of very expensive bollocks that targets vulnerable parents. If you think he’s in pain I would take him to the GP but it’s likely to be normal (maybe colic?) and should settle.

I definitely saw a marked improvement in my very unsettled baby at about that age. Obviously I can't say for sure it was down to the CO but I was desperate and willing to try anything.

Like you, I had failed forceps in the labour room and delivery in theatre (by keiland's forceps). My baby's face is permanently scarred and she had lip palsy as a result. The osteopath was excellent and had trained in London at the Osteopathic Centre for Children. Maybe you could look there? PM me if you want the details of my lady; she might be able to recommend someone.

Are you doing ok OP? I've noticed you've started multiple threads over the past few weeks about your baby and you've had lots of good advice given. Are you getting support from your partner and family/friends? Have you spoken with your HV about your concerns?

I'm not being the thread police, I just want to see how you're doing. It's really tough being a new parent.

My ds had 2 cranial sessions for his wheezing, it was a huge success he could breathe much better after and slept much better.

My DD had a couple of sessions after a tongue tie snip as she still wasn't feeding well. She started feeding much better after the sessions but that could have been pure coincidence. She very much seemed to enjoy the experience though and was the most relaxed I ever saw her as a baby!
