Cradle Cap

Ive been told to put oil on my sons cradle cap and then pick it off.

Do I HAVE to do this? Can I just leave it for it to go away by itself? Im really not into picking it off but will do it if I need to

You don't have to. I found I did with DS but it's back now he's over 1 so I'm just leaving it. It doesn't bother him at all and he'd never stay still long enough for me to do it now!

I'd not pick it off, even after being oiled.
It could be sore and get infected.
Leave well alone is my advice.

I’d just leave it alone too. Once his hair has grown a bit you’ll barely notice it.

My DS is 5 and still has it, you can’t see it under his hair, apparently it can go on till they are 8.

I smothered my baby's head with aveeno after a bath and left it on all night, then used a nit comb to gently comb it out the next day, all came off in big clumps, wish I'd tried it straight away and not waited months!

I picked my daughters cradle cap off but I’m a picker and enjoyed it 😳
I put baby oil in her head overnight then used a plastic nit comb on it

The nit comb works great, big clumps came off, and the cradle cap never came back

I would use a soft brush in circular motions just before his bath, gradually more and more came off each time and never came back, it was on his scalp, forehead and eyebrows

Just put oil on overnight and when brushed with a soft hairbrush it usually comes right off!

Definitely don't pick it. I used dentinox shampoo on my daughters which cleared it up. Tried baby oil and a soft brush before this which did nothing.

Melt a little bit of coconut oil in the microwave and massage into his wet head after a bath

Leave don't pick. It soon goes.

I second this -> Dentinox shampoo - the cradle cap was gone in 3 days.

I tried shampoo and oils, they did nothing on their own. I left it for about a year before I'd had enough and oil and a baby comb removed it all, finally her hair could grow properly.

I got sick of DD's and used coconut oil to soak it then used a Pourty brush for cradle cap and picked/lifted off the odd bit that was stuck. Very satisfying and didnt do any harm, but then I think hers was quite mild, if it's a LOT of cradle cap I don't know about picking it off.
