Toddler sandals

DS (16 months) is a fairly confident walker, although sometimes face plants when he tries to run too fast on uneven surfaces... We've been looking to get him some good sandals for the summer, DH has found a bobux pair but they're open toe, are they a complete no for little ones?

I preferred closed toe at that age. If you can find some with the adjustable velcro at the top and the ankle these are great. Much better than the stiff buckle ones as you can make them fit perfectly! My son had some very expensive buckle ones from Clarkes and then a £4 velcro pair from mothercare. The velcro were so much comfier so always chosen!

Bobux are lovely and excellent quality. They do

closed to sandals too

I like the IWalk roam on that link, but he's a 21 so they're too big and the similar range in the younger shoes are out of stock in a 21! Typical. I'll have a shop around on 3rd party sites for closed toes. He has a pair of bobux shoes already and startrite trainers and boots, so we know they both fit nicely and are comfortable

Maybe try Happy Little Soles to see if they have the closed toe Bobux in stock

I much prefer closed toe for safety. Asda first walkers sandals are actually fantastic and I highly recommend.

I like Clark's Doodles for summer - most are closed toed but also machine washable.

@DontStandSoCloseToMe I just had a look and the navy Step up Roam in 21 are in stock for me. Maybe try again.

Mine have had crocs - very easy for them to get on and off and are completely washable. Very handy right now whilst we are potty training. They don't get smelly feet in them either. Socks or not.

The other good ones are the birkenstock sandals if you do want open toe. Very comfy. Toms do nice closed toe jelly shoes and pumps.
All of the above are often to be found very heavily reduced in tkmaxx. Not much use for now, but for future shoe buying.

Always had mine in Keen Newports. Closed toe and heel, great for in the water, comfy, machine washable and so durable - I always bought second-hand on eBay, the DC wore them every day through the summer and they were still in good enough condition to re-sell or pass on when they'd been outgrown. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Timberland do lovely children’s sandals, there’s an open toe and closed toe version. My DS is 4 now but he’s had a pair every year and we’ve just ordered this year’s pair online!

Hi there - not sure if your little one has worn Bobux before but my boys are a size smaller in Bobux as they come up bigger than other brands - so the size 20 might actually be a good fit? The jump sandals are also closed toe and I love the bright Zap sandals which are closed toe.

Thanks all we went for the bobux jump in the end, I didn't know they came up big! I've ordered the 22 on the basis that he's a 21 at last measure which was about 8 weeks ago and want them for the summer more than right now.... Hopefully returns won't be too much of an issue if they're huge! Also ordered a pair from a company called old soles not sure what they'll be like but 100% leather, soft, flexible sole, extra padding and support etc so hopefully they'll be good too, the reviews were positive.
