So my DD will be 9 and a half months when we are thinking of going on holiday.

Was just wondering when was the earliest you took your DC on holiday? How did you find it?

I’m stressed and it hasn’t even happened/we haven’t even booked it!!

Eldest was 3 months. Youngest was 6 months. Both were absolutely fine.

Ds and I went on holiday to Spain (alone, dh and dd at home as was term time) at 8 months. It was lovely. It’s so much easier before they are toddlers. The flight was no problem (check a pushchair, get a buggy bag for it, and use a sling in the airport). Make sure wherever you go you’ll easily be able to manage with a pushchair on public transport or a car (we went to Barcelona, very baby friendly). Get somewhere with safe outdoor space. Ds would go to bed in the evening and I’d sit out on the terrace and it was very relaxing.

I have 4 children and they were all aged between 2-6 months when we took them away. IMO easiest age ever.

9 months was the easiest trip by far. Slept through the flights. Try not to stress and you will all have a wonderful time. My best tip for being away at that age was a £1 paddling pool from pound land, was tiny but perfect for a few inches of water that soon warmed in the sun. Take some pouring/stacking cups and a couple of balloons for playing. We went to Menorca, short flight, amazing people.

We took DD to Mauritius when she was 9 months old. DH has family there and we wanted her to meet them. It was surprisingly easy.

I took dried formula and sterilising tablets. Everything else we bought as we went along. It really helped that she loved the local food!

I took my 10 month old to Australia. It was fine.

Thank goodness it’s easy! I’m panicking! I’m thinking about how much I take for her now for just one night at someone else’s house!

@Bert2020 - love the idea of a paddling pool!! Definitely going to look into that!!

@Bombaybunty - did you buy nappies out there? We are looking at going with my family and my dad said take formula, sterilising tablets etc but buy nappies out there! I just worry that the nappy’s might not agree with her skin! (Probably being a worry wart!!)

Also, what kind of pushchairs did everyone use as obviously DD won’t be walking. Definitely going to look into a sling!

We did buy nappies out there, not exactly the same but they were fine.

4 months UK
9 months - Spain. It is fine, quite hard work as he was crawling everywhere though.
