To drop the sleepyhead or not?

My ds is now 6 months and he is a big baby (20 ibs, 9-12month clothes). He's currently still in his sleepyhead and I'm not sure when to try him without it. He's sleeping ok, although he's going through a period of waking at 4am some nights. Can anyone tell me when they chose to ditch the sleepyhead? Do you think the if it ain't broke theory is best?

I did just before I moved her into her own room at six months. I removed the sleepyhead but kept her in the Next-to-me cot for a week or so a a and then moved her to her own cot. It was fine!

I thought sleepyheads were taken off the market now due to safety reports?

They don't conform to guidance to reduce risk of SIDS but are still available I believe.

I’m surprised he still fits, my 17lb 9 month old outgrew his about 3 months ago!
We got rid of ours when he was 6 months. He was too big for it and wanted to roll around in bed which he obviously couldn’t do in the sleepyhead. We were also moving him into his own room at this point so it felt like a natural move.
He slept like shit in the sleepyhead and still does now so it made no difference Grin

Ok thanks everyone. Will give him a bash without. Just about getting a nights sleep now so a bit scared of changing anything involving the routine.
