We've got 16 children coming to the party and want party bags free of plastic tat! We did Mr Men books, sweets and cake last year but need help with ideas!

We did seed bombs last year, they went down well.

Just do books again Horrid Henry is popular with that age group and Poundland normally have a selection in.
At a similar age for ds party I got minion colour in posters in a tube with colouring pencils from Home Bargains for 75p each. So recommend checking there for ideas.

I did:

  • packets of seeds (wildflowers, kids’ carrots, sunflowers but you could do birdseeds for autumn)
  • ‘gemstone’ in a little cloth pouch (found these in a local museum gift shop, bulk pack, but have seen online)
  • kids’ magnifying glass

Find some interesting cups, as in plastic reusable cups, and use the cup as the bag by putting sweets and treats inside.

Yes you can sow wildflower seeds in autumn.

We did little animal felt finger puppets. If you’re crafty they are easy to make, or you can get packs on eBay for about £15. They were a big hit with the kids.

You can buy plain cotton bags and personalise them, then maybe add a couple of things, such as:

  • twig colouring pencils or normal pencil
  • recycled notepad
  • wooden decorated or personalised art peg
  • wooden whistle
  • organic bath bomb
  • cookie mix sachet
  • tinned sweets
  • biodegradable balloons

I have no time to invest into this so I am considering buying pre-made plastic free party bags from Little Otter - my only worry is that they might seem too "try hard". Last year I baked some triple chocolate cookies in the shape of bear paws and put these in paper bags sealed with a nice sticker, but this year I won't have time to bake...
