Car seats

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this - please feel free to advise.

But I'm looking at car seat upgrades for my 12 month old.

She has outgrown her baby seat which is a Britax baby capsule.

I'm not sure whether to buy a forward facing car seat. I have a medium size car- Mazda 3.

What do you recommend? The only thing about the forward facing is head flop with naps on the road.

I do like the Britax range .

Rear facing is much safer. Ideally to 4 although we changed DD round earlier as she is very tall.

It depends how much your child weighs and what stage car seat you buy.

0-13kg and stage 0 seat = child must be rear facing

9-18kg and a stage 1 seat = child can be rear or forward facing.

In my opinion you should keep them rear facing for as long as possible.

Rear facing is much safer than forward facing. We have a mazda 3 and an axkid minikid which rear faces to 25kg. My 99.6th centile 4 year old still fits in it.

12mo is very very young to be thinking of forward facing. Rear facing until at least 4yrs is by far the safest option. My 4.5yr old rear faces in an Axkid Minikid and a Britax Two Way Elite, both of which fit in our Fiesta with pkrvty of room.
