Hi just abit of a second opinion please, I've had my 1 year old to the doctors to about his temp spiking 39, calpol is bringing it down but its soon back up again hes not himself at all. The doctor said carry on giving him calpol and ibuprofen and see how he gets on but I'm worried something else is going on as his hand and feet are cold and lips go purple every now and again but when his temp is coming back up. I dont know what to do for him

Ring 999. His temp is too high. My little boy had that and he was having a febrile convulsion, please ring them now and not ask on here it sounds serious considering he’s purple

I wouldn't ring 999 but I'd call 111, my one year old recently had similar symptoms but her temp was sometimes higher, sometimes just over 40, so the first time we rang 111 we saw an out of hours dr who suspected a virus so we got the same advice as you, calpol, extra water etc.
But it carried on and she had spells of blue lips/mottled skin etc so rang 111 again and they said to take her A&E and it turned out she had a urinary infection so we got some antibiotics and she was ok in a few days.
Trust your instincts if you think it's serious, I guess you could call 999 if you think it's an emergency? Or take DC straight to A&E.

Definitely try to take pics of when lips are blue as for DD it came and went and I wanted to be able to show them what it was like.

Hope everything is ok!

I do think @MamaOl is right though, you need to speak to a medical professional, not mumsnet

I'd take him to be honest, can you try to catch a urine sample to take with you so they can check for an infection? That's what it ended up being for us, I managed to get her to wee in a pot for them to test it.
How long has it been going on? DD was unwell for days and days before we went to a&e

Did you take pics of his blue hands etc to show the dr? The dr I saw at a&e was very concerned at the pics I had taken of DD with mottled skin on her arms and face. She said that if that happened again to bring her back to a&e

So I went back to the doctors today as his temp was 39.4 this morning and they have given him antibiotics for an ear infection. After going for 3 days every day they found that today 😖
