Can my 5 month baby sleep on her side?

Hello, I was wondering how safe it is that my five and a half month old daughter sleeps on her side. Every time I turn her onto her back she always moves back into her side! Does anyone else have experience of this or tips?
Thank you!

Can she roll over? Once my little one roll happily unaided (4 months) he would always sleep on his side and I’d just leave him

It is basically completely unrealistic to keep turning them back over night after night when you are asleep. In my view anyway! My boy has always liked being on his side or tummy so when he started doing it himself I left him to it. He still sleeps on his tummy.

If she's doing it of her own accord there's not much you can do! You could always get an owlet or similar for peace of mind.

Ds did this not a lot you can do tbh

I used to flip him but he would roll back over or wake up and complain to me!

DD slept on her side/ front since about 4 months. She’s always hated being on her back but has been mobile since very early on.

Don’t worry, she will be fine. Leave her be and you’ll both get more sleep Smile

Thanks everyone and yes she can roll from front to back and back to front. The only problem now is she keeps getting her legs through the bars! I'm in two minds in what to do reg cot bumpers now! Does anyone recommend them/use them? Thanks

You can get a mesh bumper that is breathable should she end up with her face close to it but will keep her legs and arms inside the cot

Do you use a sleeping bag? That stops their legs getting stuck in the bars

We used a mixture of sleeping bag and mesh cot bumper

My daughter is the same age and does the same thing. She’s my second child so it doesn’t bother me now, I think first time parents may worry more about this. My first daughter, now 4, used to only sleep on her tummy. I think as long as they’re monitored enough and you use baby monitor to hear them there is no problem. You’re not going to be able to stop her from getting in a comfy position just ensure her cot is safe x
