How often do you breast/formula feed your 10 month old

Hi, I’m just looking for some clarification. My DD is about 10 days away from being 10 months (I lost track of her age in weeks forever ago). She still breastfeeds when she first wakes up in a morning and just before bed. She usually has one or two feeds through the night. She has absolutely no interest in bf through the day.

About a month ago when I had her weighed (all fine) the health visitor told me to aim for this bf routine (just morning and night) and the focus is on food now. I have never denied her bf but we fell into this naturally when I returned to work part time. We follow BLW and she eats really well so no concerns about this. She has 3 meals a day at least. However friends who have slightly older children have all told me that they would feed (either formula or breast) at least once throughout the day alongside food and a bit of google research seems to support this.

I’ve not had her weighed since beginning of Jan but she seems happy and content and I have no concerns about her But just want to check i am doing right by her?

My almost 9 month old is formula fed and has between 3 and 4 bottles a day. None overnight. He has breakfast and dinner every day and some days when I remember he has lunch too!

All babies are different, but I would say that my bf one was down to only morning and night feeds by 11 months (in preparation for me going back to work). My ff one had a cup of milk in the afternoon until 13 months (plus morning and night). The recommendation is that kids up to 5 have about 500ml of milk a day, so most will continue to have some during the day as toddlers, but that can be as cow’s milk in a cup. 10 months is perhaps still quite early for drinking loads out of a cup though. Morning and evening sounds fine though and it’s pretty normal for anyone who has gone back to work.

Mine still has 640-800ml formula a day (a 160ml bottle 4 or 5 times a day, including 1 in the night) which I’ve read is within the normal range, but we’re trying to reduce it before he makes the transition to cow’s milk in a couple of months’ time. I’m trying not to worry too much about it as we have fallen into this feeding pattern naturally and it is working well for us. Those of you whose babies only have a bottle in the morning and at night - how did you do it?

It's interesting to hear others routines. I suppose, as said above, all babies are different but it's reassuring to know if others have similar experiences

Mine was down to two bottles by 10 months, morning and night. I'd finished BFing a couple of months earlier. We did it by giving snacks in place of the mid morning and mid afternoon bottles - not sure he'd have dropped them by himself to be honest!

My first only breastfed about twice a day from 8 or 9 months. She was massively into solids. DD2 BFed much more frequently at that age. There is a wide range of normal and your baby is well within it!

My dd was fully weaned before ten months granted that probably unusual but if your dd is eating well during the day then nutritionally she probably shouldn't need a bottle during the night. It's probably best to separate bed time from food to encourage a food sleep routine.

My ds started sleeping through at 10mo so from then was in a bedtime feed and a breakfast feed only.
He refused bottles so no chance of milk at nursery.

I breastfed my DS before naps and bed time because it chilled him out and made him drowsy! I think he had 2 naps per day at that age but my memory is not 100% on that. I used to look after my friend's DS of the same age who was formula fed and he was happy on the same routine.

He had water and diluted apple juice through the day and was doing well with solids.

My bf baby is 10 months (just) and still has 4 feeds per day - 6am, 10am, 2pm, 7pm (first thing then before naps and bedtime). He absolutely loves solids but I think also loves the comfort of bf. I’m a bit worried as I’m going back to work in a month and he’s never taken a bottle so I’ll be cutting out 2 feeds then.

DS has just turned 9 months and has 3 8oz bottles a day at 8, 2 and 7. He loves his food and has 3 meals a day, possibly ate more than his 4 year old brother at dinner tonight Hmm

Mine (bf) is 11 months and for the last few weeks has had no milk through the day if he's at nursery. He'll usually feed in the morning before we get up, then again at bed time then overnight my boobs are like an all you can eat buffet. If he's not at nursery he'll feed once through the day (as well as the other times).

I'm happy to keep going for as long as he's happy.
